NEW: A 13-year-old boy from Australia swam for four hours through cold, dangerous waters to save his mother and two siblings after they were swept out to sea. The family had drifted miles offshore while kayaking and paddleboarding when Austin Appelbee made the decision to swim back alone to get help.
Austin said he prayed the entire time, believing God carried him through the ordeal. Exhausted and without a life jacket, he eventually collapsed on shore, then ran nearly a mile to alert authorities. A rescue helicopter later found his mother and siblings, who had spent nearly 10 hours in the water.
Austin’s mother said sending him to shore was the hardest decision she’s ever made. His courage, faith, and determination helped save his family.Hu
