Not every victory at the PUMA Philippine Half Series – Davao Leg, organized by Runrio Inc. in partnership with KinetixSports, is measured by a finish time. 🥲

As thousands of runners pushed their limits through the rain, chasing personal records across the streets of Davao, one runner chose something even greater. In the middle of the race, under the pouring rain, she spotted a tiny injured kitten stranded on the road. Without hesitation, she stopped, gently picked it up, and carried it to safety, knowing it would cost her precious seconds, and perhaps even her personal best. The race continued, but in that moment, compassion crossed the finish line first.

As one of the official photographers covering this unforgettable event, out of thousands of frames I captured that morning, this photograph spoke the loudest. You can see it in her smile, not the smile of someone who just broke a record, but of someone whose heart chose kindness over competition. Some medals are worn around the neck, but the greatest victories are carried in our character. This image is a beautiful reminder that true champions are not only remembered for how fast they run, but for the lives they touch along the way. ❤️🐈🌧️

The first light of the morning painted the skies of Davao with breathtaking shades of purple as thousands of runners conquered the Yakult 10 Miler at Davao Global Township. Every stride, every smile, every drop of sweat, and every finish-line celebration tells a story worth preserving.

I shoot a lot of races, and the photos I remember most are never about speed.

This is what showing up looks like at Tri Davor in Mati. Calm, focused, walking out of the Dahican surf ready for the next leg. That kind of grit is what triathlon is really about.

Sometimes, the most unforgettable finish isn’t about crossing the line first. 🩵

At the Beach Run in Dahican, I witnessed something special. One runner reached the finish line ahead of everyone, but instead of claiming the victory, he stopped just before the line and waited for his friend. When they were finally side by side, they settled it the simplest way possible: a game of rock, paper, scissors. The winner earned the honor of taking the final step across the finish line first.

In a world where every second counts, they reminded everyone watching that some victories are bigger than medals and rankings. Friendship, respect, and sharing the moment together will always be the greatest finish of all. ❤️
