Rediscovering My Passion Through God's Purpose
During my night devotion, my eyes caught sight of my camera resting quietly beside me. It had been a long time since I last picked it up. Looking at it brought back memories of when I first started photography the excitement, the curiosity, and the passion I had to learn every setting, every angle, and every story a photograph could tell.
But somewhere along the journey, that passion began to fade. I became tired. I felt stuck. I couldn't see growth in my work anymore, and I stopped finding beauty in the photos I created. While others often told me that my work was beautiful and inspiring, I only saw it as ordinary. Their compliments never seemed to match what I saw in myself.
As I reflected, I found myself asking the Lord, "Am I ungrateful? Why can't I see the value in what You've given me?" Perhaps I had become too focused on comparing myself with others. Perhaps I allowed the voices around me to define my worth. Or maybe the Lord was teaching me something deeper that my value is not found in recognition, improvement, or comparison, but in Him alone.
While scrolling through my page and looking back at the moments I captured, I remembered why I started. Photography was never just about taking pictures. It was about telling stories, preserving memories, and using creativity as a gift from God. Seeing those images reminded me that this passion was something I once brought before the Lord in prayer. It was something I genuinely loved.
The Lord used that moment to rekindle a fire that had nearly gone out. He reminded me that passion is not sustained by feelings alone. It is sustained by purpose.
Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."
This verse reminds me that God intentionally created me with unique gifts and abilities. Photography is not merely a hobby or a skill it can be a tool for His glory. The camera in my hands is an opportunity to reflect His creativity, tell stories of hope, and serve others through the talents He has entrusted to me.
Moving forward, I want to remain consistent not because I am chasing perfection, recognition, or success. I want to continue because God has given me this gift. I will keep learning even when progress feels slow. I will keep creating even when I doubt myself. I will keep showing up even when passion feels distant.
This time, I am not pursuing photography simply because it is my choice. I am pursuing it because I believe God has a purpose for it. My camera is not just a tool it is a reminder that I am God's workmanship, and every gift He gives has a purpose beyond myself.
Today, I choose to pick up my camera again not for my glory, but for His. βπ»
