Why I Have a Strict No-Alcohol Policy During My Climb Events
I came across a post that reminded me why I have always been firm about one rule in all my organized climbs: No alcohol allowed.
This is not because I want to limit anyone's fun. It's because, my top priority will always be the safety, comfort, and well-being of every participant.
Para sa akin, the mountains are a place for healing, adventure, friendship, and self-discovery. Many people join hikes to disconnect from stress, enjoy nature, challenge themselves, and create meaningful memories. Everyone deserves to feel safe and respected while doing so.
Alcohol may not be the direct cause of inappropriate behavior, but it can impair judgment and create situations that put others at risk. Since then, I my main goal is to create an environment where everyone, especially women and first-time hikers that can feel secure and comfortable.
I also believe that the best way to experience the mountains is with a clear mind and a grateful heart. The conversations around the camp, the sunrise, the laughter, the struggles on the trail, and the friendships formed along the way are already enough to make every climb memorable.
I will continue to enforce this rule, not to be strict for the sake of being strict, but because I care deeply about the people who trust me.
Let's keep hiking safe, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone. The mountains are for all of us.
