Engr. Jayson D. Binay a resident of Salaban II, Ibaan, Batangas, is a distinguished petroleum engineer, educator, and community leader with extensive experience in academia, industry, and civic engagement.
A proud graduate of Maximo T. Hernandez Memorial Integrated High School, Batch 2013-2014, Engr. Jayson D. Binay consistently excelled in academics, earning recognition as an honor student throughout his years in school. During his final year, he demonstrated strong leadership skills as the President of the Supreme Student Government (SSG), actively promoting student initiatives and fostering a culture of excellence. In addition to his academic achievements, he was a campus journalist with a particular talent for photojournalism, earning accolades for his exceptional skills in capturing compelling visual narratives. His dedication to academics and extracurricular activities laid the foundation for his future success in engineering, education, and leadership.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from Batangas State University โ GPB Main Campus II and has since pursued advanced studies, completing 18 units in the Master of Science in Energy Engineering at Batangas State University. He is currently taking his Master of Engineering Program, Major in Chemical Engineering at Adamson University and has further enriched his expertise through a Certificate in Upgraded Studies in Petroleum Engineering under the Summer Institute Program at the Industrial University of Tyumen, Russia. His educational journey reflects his commitment to continuous learning and global exposure in petroleum and energy engineering.
Currently, Engr. Binay serves as a Lecturer in the Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at Adamson University, where he plays a significant role in academic administration. He holds multiple leadership positions, including Program Coordinator for the Petroleum Engineering Program, OBE-CQI Coordinator, Internship Coordinator, and Research Coordinator for undergraduate research in petroleum engineering. As an Adviser for the Society of Petroleum Engineers โ AdU Student Chapter, he fosters student engagement and professional development. His expertise is further reflected in his role as Head Panelist for Methods of Research and Project Study Defense, guiding students in their research endeavors. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he has also gained industry experience through an industry immersion at Fluor Daniel, Inc., a multinational engineering and construction firm, where he worked in the Piping Department. His professional qualifications are further strengthened by his certification as a Safety Officer II, accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), underscoring his expertise in occupational safety and health.
Engr. Binay is an active member of several professional organizations, demonstrating his dedication to his field. He holds professional membership in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International and the Southeast Asia Petroleum Exploration Society (SEAPEX). Additionally, he is an associate member of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers โ Metro Manila Academe Chapter (PIChE-MMAC) and a member of the Association of Campus Student Advisers. Through these affiliations, he remains connected with the latest advancements in engineering, collaborates with industry professionals, and contributes to academic research and education.
Beyond his role as an educator, Engr. Binay is a sought-after speaker at various national and international events. He has delivered keynote lectures at the Industrial University of Tyumen, Russia, discussing Emerging Trends in Petroleum Engineering Research and the Oil Industry in Southeast Asia. He has also been invited as a guest speaker at the Technological Institute of the Philippines - Manila for the ChemIcon Series: Igniting PetroChem Careers and at The AXIS, the official student publication of Batangas State University, on Photojournalism. Additionally, he has served as a keynote speaker at graduation ceremonies and career expos, including the Ala Eh Career Expo 2021 and the Graduation Rites of Maximo T. Hernandez Memorial Integrated High School, inspiring students to pursue their dreams and overcome challenges.
As an instructor, Engr. Binay specializes in teaching key engineering courses such as Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Petrophysics, Reservoir Simulation, Well Logging and Formation Evaluation, Introduction to Energy Engineering, and Process Safety. His extensive knowledge and hands-on experience allow him to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation complemented by practical industry applications. Additionally, he is skilled in various technical tools and software, including Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, Navigator for Reservoir Simulation, and ASPEN Hysys for Process Simulation. His strong communication skills, leadership abilities, and commitment to mentorship make him a highly respected educator and professional in his field.
In addition to his academic and professional contributions, Engr. Binay is deeply involved in community service and youth development. He has held numerous leadership roles in civic organizations, including Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson (2018-2023), SK Municipal Federation Vice President (2019-2022), Ibaan SK Federation President (2022-2023), and Local Youth Development Council President (2022-2023). He is also the President of the Rotaract Club of Downtown Ibaan and the Joseph Marello Youth Ibaan. Furthermore, he is the Founder and President of SINSAY (Succeed Ibaan Next Generationsโ Society for the Awareness of Youth), an organization dedicated to empowering young individuals and promoting social awareness. His active involvement in youth organizations demonstrates his passion for leadership, community service, and social development.
