I didnât have easy access to a camera growing up.
The camera we knew back then has film that can only capture limited pictures, and you had to have them printed before you can see the photos. Since we lived in a province, we can only have them printed whenever we go to the city.
In my case, my family didnât own one so we had to borrow other peopleâs cameras whenever there are important events such as weddings, graduations, baptisms and birthdays, even for birthdays there are birthdays that we didnât have a camera to use.
My siblings and I were known to excel academically, and we were quite active as well when it comes to extra curricular activities. Looking back, it would have been nice if ALL those awarding ceremonies and all those extra curricular feats were captured.
I had a phone when I was in highschool but it was just for calling and texting. My first phone with camera was when I was in second year college (University in UKâs terminology). It wasnât a financial matter, I came from a province and tech-wise we were a little behind, to be quite honest, Iâm grateful because we didnât grow up surfing social media, we spent those years reading pocket books and hanging out with friends, and whenever we need to do research, we had to use our library.
Nowadays, even my 6 year old niece has a phone with a camera, and I bet when she grows up, she will not understand how it feels not to have one.
I am never going to apologize if I take too many pictures. I am capturing anything and everything that I want to remember in the future, just like how I wished my favourite memories growing up were captured.
