I still remember the rain.
The crowd.
The quiet tears I couldn’t explain when I saw him.

It was 2015 — Pope Francis was visiting the Philippines, and I was just starting my journey as a lay missionary. I didn’t know then how much that moment would stay with me.

His words weren’t grand. They were simple, but they hit deep — about mercy, about being with the poor, about choosing love even when it’s hard.

That day, something in me shifted.
That was the moment I knew I wanted to spend my life serving.

Now that he’s gone, I find myself looking back with so much gratitude.
He didn’t just preach the Gospel — he lived it.
And somehow, in his quiet strength and joy, he reminded us what it means to truly follow Christ.

Thank you, Pope Francis.
For the inspiration. For your life. For that moment in the rain.

You’ve finished the race.
We’ll carry on the mission.

PAANO NAMAN AKO?

Sa bawat hakbang na pasan ang mundo,
Tahimik mong dinadala ang bigat ng pangako.
Sa bawat sweldo, may kwento ng pagtitiis,
Sa bawat ngiti, may luhang pinipilit ikubli.

Ikaw ang sandalan, ang tagapagligtas,
Ngunit kailan kaya na ikaw naman ang sasaluhin?
Ikaw ang nagbibigay, walang hinihingi,
Ngunit sa gabi, tinatanong mo: “Paano naman ako?”

Hindi ka mahina—napapagod lang.
Hindi ka nagrereklamo—naghahanap lang ng unawa.
Hindi mo kailangan ng papuri,
Kailangan mo lang marinig:
“Nandito kami. Kasama mo kami.”

Sa bawat breadwinner, ito ay paalala:
Hindi mo kailangang masunog para lang magbigay ng liwanag.
Sa gitna ng lahat ng responsibilidad—
May karapatan ka ring mahalin, marinig, at alagaan.
