𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 || Sa Manlulupig, 'Di Pasisiil
— 𝘈𝘪𝘳𝘢 𝘐𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘦𝘭 𝘈𝘭𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘦

First Year Students Begin Life Saving Journey in Day One of BLS and First Aid Training

— Arjay Samlero

‎The three-day Basic Life Support and First Aid training that aims on strengthening the readiness and practical skills of the first year students of Governor Mariano E. Villafuerte Community College - Libmanan in handling medical emergencies both on campus and also in real world situations titled “Empowering First Responders: Basic Life Support and First Aid Training 2026,” has already started on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at GMVCC - Libmanan Gymnasium as part of the National Service Training Program curriculum (NSTP).

‎Starting on the first day of the training, Mr. Aquillino C. Deborde, NSTP Coordinator and DRRM Adviser, commenced the activity wherein students engaged in the session as he introduces First Aid and Basic Life Support that prolongs life as it provides immediate care and life-preserving steps to stabilize the person who was injured or ill before the rescuers get at the scene. Aside form that, he also highlights the legal concerns while performing first aid— ensuring that you can help safely, as well as respecting someone's rights, and stay protected while trying to save lives; this kind of approach benefits both sides as it protects the rescuer from legal liabilities and securing the person in need feels safe with appropriate care.

‎Under the guidance of Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) Team of GMVCC - Libmanan, the students gain practical knowledge and skills by demonstration— responding to someone choking and performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in real action and the demo is beneficial to the students as they learn how to apply first aid correctly and confidently in real-life emergencies and by also giving them hands-on practice and reinforcing proper techniques.

‎ Overall, the medical training teaches them as they prepare students to assist in real-life situations, especially during accidents and emergencies— equipping them with vital knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence needed to respond effectively. More than improving their medical preparedness, the activity also inspired the students to become dependable individuals who can contribute to the safety during emergencies.

EDITORIAL: Why the “Jack of All Trades” is the Only Leader Who Can End A War?

The profound wisdom of famous quote “A Jack of all trades is a master of none” it underlines the idea that having a broad range of skills can be more valuable than specializing in just one area, but in the whole context the quote is “A Jack of all trades is a master of none but often better than a master of one” finds its most poignant echo in the stark realities of our world's most challenging moments. When the thunderous roar of war erupts, when innocent lives are caught in the unforgiving storms, the singular focus of a specialist can sometimes fall short. The world's issues are rarely neat, it is flawed. Never wield by a single, sharp tool. Instead, they are vast, intricate tapestries woven with threads of politics, economics, human psychology, and deep-seated history.

Leaders who are masters of one risk tunnel vision. Their expertise, while valuable, may blind them to the interconnectedness of issues that define modern crises. They might excel in military strategy but fail to grasp the socio-economic fallout; they may be brilliant diplomats but overlook the psychological scars borne by affected populations. This narrow mastery can lead to solutions that are short-sighted or incomplete, addressing symptoms but not root causes. Consequently, such leadership risks perpetuating cycles of conflict rather than resolving them.

Conversely, leaders who embrace the “Jack of all trades” ethos demonstrate adaptability and holistic understanding. They are able to synthesize diverse fields of knowledge, balancing hard power with soft diplomacy, economic recovery with social healing, and immediate relief with long-term development. This breadth enables them to anticipate unintended consequences, to bridge divides between disparate stakeholders, and to foster inclusive solutions that respect the dignity and complexity of all parties involved.

In the shadow of war, it is this breadth of vision, this capacity to embrace multiple facets of a crisis from the geopolitical to the deeply personal, from the economic to the psychological that often proves not just useful, but profoundly, undeniably better. It is the ability to hold the grand strategy and the individual tear in the same gaze, to mend the fabric of society by understanding all its threads, that offers the most potent path toward genuine, enduring peace.

The master of one might win a battle but lose the war for hearts and minds. The master of one might deliver aid but fail to address the root causes of conflict. But the Jack of all trades, with their wider lens and adaptable nature, can begin to weave together the disparate elements needed for true healing and lasting stability. They can bridge gap foster understanding and solutions that honor the dignity and complex needs of all involved. In the shadow of war, it is this breadth of vision, this capacity to embrace multiple facets of a crisis, that often proves not just useful, but profoundly, undeniably better.
