The Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Calabarzon said it has recorded the first case of Mpox in Region IV-A.
In a statement Thursday, August 29, the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (RESU) said the patient has no travel history. The patient exhibited symptoms of fever and rashes that started on August 10, 2024 and consulted in a rural health center. He is now recovering at home and under close monitoring by the local health authorities.
Common symptoms of MPOX include skinrash or mucosal lesions, which can last 2-4 weeks accompanied by fever, swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, muscle aches and back pain, headache and low energy.
