Well, that was an absolute blast! Our camera club Focus Bulacan celebrated its 13th anniversary with a pickleball tournament - which also happened to be my very first competition after picking up the sport two months ago.

​My partner (James Nuguit) and I actually swept the qualifiers 4-0 to enter the semifinals as the 2nd seed, but we ended up falling just short in both the semis and the battle-for'third match by the slightest of margin - both losses were brutal 14-15 heartbreakers. It wasn't our day to podium, but the whole event was such a massive success and so much fun. Plus all of us players walked away with a ton of great action shots!

Made a last-minute switch from NCC 21K to the CCM 32K run. I just wanted to test myself and have a reality check if I'm any ready for the Bulacan Marathon next month. 32KM is a whole different beast (and I could only imagine what 42.195 would be like). The extra mileage was brutal and pushed me to my absolute limits, but we made it. Massive thanks to the One above for the strength to finish. ☝️

Can confirm that I'll be taking part in the Five Pillars 2026 Fun Run. Not as a runner, but as a photographer. My first time to shoot a running event.

Watching trains go by... 🎶

Happy National Camera Day! It may sound cliché, but the best camera in the world is the one you have with you. Really doesn't matter if it's a pricey full-frame, a clunky point-and-shoot, or just your phone. The important thing is to go out there and capture the moment.

Got an invite, packed light, hitched a ride. Locked in behind the lens then had a blast linking up with fellow photographers out there. Loved every minute of it.

EARTH, FAITH & FIRE : TAONG PUTIK FESTIVAL | Every June 24th, while the rest of the Philippines celebrates St. John the Baptist by splashing water, the people of Brgy. Bibiclat in Aliaga, Nueva Ecija do something completely different : they cover themselves from head to toe in thick mud and dried banana leaves.

The tradition comes from a story during World War II : Japanese soldiers were about to execute village men, but a sudden, heavy rain forced the invaders to cancel the ex*****on and seek shelter. The locals believed St. John the Baptist sent the downpour to save their lives. In joy and gratitude, the villagers rolled around in the muddy fields. And today, locals keep this history alive as their "panata". Before sunrise, they head to the rice fields to apply and coat themselves in mud and wrap leaves around their bodies. They do this as a symbol of humility - stepping away from vanity to show true humbleness before God. They then walk to the church to hear mass, light candles, and celebrate the community's survival.

Documenting this festival wasn’t just about catching striking visuals. It was more about witnessing an entire community pause to remember a promise it made decades ago, and now even outsiders support them as they honor their history.
