Paper Visions is an outlet for me to be able to express myself through the images I capture and the articles I publish. I'm still learning and every experience is an opportunity to try something new and grow from it. There are going to be a lot of difficulties up ahead, but I'm game to take on new challenges.

At the beginning of August, I was surprised to come across a bazaar in Ali Mall that I wasn't aware of. I had other plans during then, so I made it a point to come back on their last day. This was phcurated's AliCurated event where you could find all things vintage from clothes, to accessories, to toys, and a whole lot more.

I immediately recognised a familiar figure, Jodee, looking for new pieces to acquire amongst the rows of clothing racks and was the reason why I wanted to come back and fully have a look around what was being offered.

On their last day, I was even selected as a recipient of a voucher that I guess they were handing out to visitors with outfits that they liked. To be honest, I had just arrived and was more focused on showing my friend the pieces that he wanted to purchase for himself via video call.

Then I was suddenly being called to the stage and I was so unaware of what was happening around me that I didn't even know what contest I participated in 😅 Still, thank y'all so much for liking what I was wearing. Y'all legit surprised me big time with that one 🩷

After spending three consistent years just working from home back then during the pandemic, I will say that I missed commuting to work. And while we could all agree that the public transport system could be better here in the Philippines, I do enjoy the travel in between destinations.

I guess even as a kid, I have always liked going out and just the actual process of "going somewhere" regardless of what my destination is. Just being on the move and embodying that nomadic urge to roam around and discover new places, but never fully settling in one.

I like the idea of having a place to call my own, but I also prefer to have access to the rest of the world as much as I can so that when I'm sick of one area, I know that I can just go some place else. I wish travel didn't have to cause so much though, but hey! A gurl can wish 🩷

Last month, I decided to go to IKEA to purchase some frames for artworks that I amassed up until that point as I wanted to properly display them for viewing rather than just have them in my binder.

I said I'll use this excursion as a practice session for me to get used to vlogging out in public, but little did I know that there would still be a lot of people at IKEA during that day. I legit thought there'd be less because of a storm back then.

So if y'all are wondering why my voice isn't as loud as it usually is and the angle I'm filming is lower, I'm not used to filming myself out in public just yet and I still feel nervous doing it, TBH 😅 We'll get there eventually.

For the second part of our Cubao ukay ukay adventure, we visit one of the currently more well-known thrift stores that could potentially have what it is that you may be looking for due to its sheer size, and one that I frequent a lot and where I find most of my beloved finds.

Got any place in mind that y'all think I should check out? Let me know and I'll have a look and mayhaps that's where my next adventure will be. For the moment though, I am pretty happy with my current wardrobe, but depending on the piece, I could be swayed to add a bit more 😅

I remember this moment. I was able to clock off from work much earlier and was walking home on a sunny afternoon that day. I look to my right and saw how the orange scaffolding stood out from the entire length of the tower and that's when I took a photograph of it 🧡

It wasn't common for me to head on home while the sun was still up during then and I felt relieved to be doing so and I was in higher spirits than usual as a result. I had time to explore more of my surroundings afterwards and just walk for my own leisure.

I felt just as warm as the sunset when I took this photograph. I was training myself to notice my environment more once again and seek out what interests me and made me feel pleasant.

My friends and I decided to roam around Cubao for a bit and see what the local ukay ukay shops have in-store and I want to show y'all some of the spots I frequent to look for good finds.

We went through quite a few and I even continued on my hunt even after we all parted ways already. This is just part 1 of 2, so do keep an eye out for the next portion of this ukay ukay episode.
