PNP LEAVES NO STONE UNTURNED IN AURORA DROWNING INVESTIGATION
The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), has undertaken a comprehensive crime scene reconstruction in connection with the drowning incident that occurred in Dipaculao, Aurora, as part of its continuing effort to establish the facts surrounding the tragedy and support a thorough investigation.
The reconstruction activity commenced in the early hours of June 23 and involved personnel from the CIDG, Forensic Group, Aurora Police Provincial Office, Police Regional Office 3, and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. Investigators examined environmental conditions at the site, including tide patterns, shoreline measurements, and the locations where the victims were last seen based on available footage and witness accounts.
Advanced forensic and technical equipment, including sonar technology and 3D scanning tools, were utilized to accurately document the area and gather scientific data that may help investigators better understand the circumstances of the incident. Authorities are likewise reviewing safety measures in place within the area, including the presence of warning signs and emergency response provisions.
The ongoing investigation reflects the PNP's commitment to evidence-based police work and careful fact-finding, consistent with the organization's efforts to further strengthen police operations through modern investigative methods under its Focused Agenda. The initiative also supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure responsive, accountable, and people-centered public service.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., assured the public that investigators remain focused on establishing an accurate and objective account of what transpired.
"Sa ganitong mga pagkakataon, mahalagang malinaw at kumpleto ang mga impormasyon na ating nakakalap. Hindi tayo nagmamadali sa konklusyon. Tinitiyak natin na bawat ebidensya at bawat pahayag ay masusing sinusuri upang mabigyan ng linaw ang mga pangyayari at maibigay ang nararapat na sagot sa mga pamilya at sa publiko," PGen Nartatez said.
He emphasized that the PNP will continue to employ scientific investigative techniques to strengthen the integrity of police investigations.
"Our investigators are committed to following the evidence wherever it leads. We owe it to the victims, their families, and the public to conduct a fair, objective, and thorough investigation anchored on facts and supported by science," he added.
