During our last day in Catanduanes, we decided to visit Hicming, which was not originally part of our itinerary. It’s a 20-minute drive from Virac center. The trail on the way to the second falls can be compared to the trail we usually take in Rangas River in Sorsogon — it’s composed of a river trail and soft terrain due to light rains.

Upon reaching the falls, we were welcomed by an almost 10-meter-high cascade. The area was vast, with a deep lagoon where locals could swim. The highlight of the trip was witnessing these young lads leap and dive from the top and side of the falls.

I’ll be lying if I tell you that these photos aren’t from the Philippines! It’s also not in Batanes! This photo series was taken last October during sunrise from Binurong Point in Baras, Catanduanes.

Catanduanes is an island province in the Bicol Region, situated in the eastern part of Luzon, facing the Philippine Sea and the Pacific Ocean to its east. The province is also composed of several smaller islands and islets contributing to the diverse geography of the province.

Just a half-hour drive from Sorsogon City, Lola Sayong Beach in Gubat is the perfect spot for beginner surfers. With its long shoreline and gentle waves, it’s a favorite for both locals and visitors, especially in the summer and later months of the year.

On the other hand, my friends and I have made numerous returns since the pandemic began. Its easy access has made it convenient for us to visit frequently and hang out. Digging into my archive again brings a pure sense of bliss and a wave of nostalgia, as I quite miss the old times.
