Dæmon Ex Machina Wheels & Wings
Voyeurism into the love affair between spirit & machine. Dæmon = divinity, spirit, or godling. Ex = out of, or from. Machina = machine.

Sharing heartfelt words and quality images (in geeky solidarity and mutual respect/support), to join the efforts in uplifting the Philippine name in international machine-loving culture...

It's been a while. It's nice to see evolution across the board. I've been behind a desk more than out on the field lately (but not completely). But one thing hasn't changed. I'm still doing interesting things with cool people in strange places. I'll tell you more about that later.

I got to meet Larry Chen, one of my biggest influences—especially early on. Had to document it and gush, although I also know I'd never forget.

This is one of the things I've been involved in lately...

FJ Moto Mountaincross Adventure (by FJ Moto Enduro and The Long Riders) is one of the coolest, fastest-growing motoring events in the PH (third installment done)... A 1200-kilometer, multi-day, multi-terrain endurance and navigation challenge for riders of highway-legal bikes. You have to join with a team of at least three, and finish within a set time frame. Waypoints / checkpoints are given progressively and the route is a well protected secret beforehand. Participants are expected to have all-weather stamina, proper character / attitude, and adequate off-roading skills / equipment. This isn't touring, it's real adventure riding... And yes, there is in fact a universally accepted semantic difference.

I've been helping coordinate its Creator Awards which is a mini competition within the event... Acting as semifinals judge, collecting and vetting photography submissions before putting them through the extreme discernment of a panel of international judges (shoutout to buddies Gregor Halenda, Daniel Girizd, and Rob Hamilton)... I also get to co-host the Awards Night which reminds people (and even myself) that i am not an A.I. hahaha.

Here are this year's deserving winners!

See more of what the participants go through and the fantastically remote routes they get to witness by checking out these hashtags...

I'm happy to return to judge the semifinals, after which a panel of three badass international judges will take over. It's my second time doing this. It's the second FJMMA Content Creator Awards. It's the third FJ Moto Mountaincross Adventure... One of the absolute coolest motoring events in the country... A proper 1,000km + multi-terrain endurance challenge that takes high-way legal adventure bike riders through some of the most breathtaking roads and remote trails around the Cordilleras.

Took longer this time around. I ended up extracting 178 decent photos from this year's submissions and whittled them down to 89 (so far). There were 300 registered participants.

Want to see what we saw? Scroll through the hashtag.

This annual event is not a race but it was born from one: the 2022 FJ Moto Mountaincross Series. I hope that one day FJ Moto Enduro brings that back.

Introducing the judge for the photography category of the FJ Moto Mountaincross Adventure Content Creator Awards.

Took the new Mazda CX-5 AWD Turbo (in its awesome shade-shifting Zircon Sand) to Daang Kalikasan via Santa Cruz, Zambales to watch the Geminid meteor shower. It was one wild light show, and a fun nocturnal drive! Perfect car for far, fast-and-chill adventures. Love the additional power of the turbocharged 2.5L engine and the or****ic suspension and steering updates... And of course, the Bose speakers.

People say I drive a car like a motorcycle. With all windows open (including the sunroof), flying with buffeting wind noise, and the volume up to level 40-something... I was like, "Huh. I guess so."

AMORR and his sick Honda TMX 180 scrambler build, bored up to around 182-183cc from 155cc, led me up the new scenic road in Pingit, Aurora. Both his page and this bike have just been resurrected.

We don't know the road's name, and it's supposed to lead to certain places but doesn't quite yet. The connections should be made soon enough though.
