😀
2012.
That was the year I first fell in love with photography.
My very first setup was a Nikon D90 paired with the classic Nikon 35mm and 85mm 1.8 prime lenses. Back then, I was simply enjoying the process of capturing moments and learning everything I could behind the camera.
Then around 2015, I shifted to Canon and used a Canon 60D with a Sigma 17-50 2.8 and the legendary “nifty fifty” — the cheap but reliable Canon 50mm 1.8. Simple gears, but they taught me a lot.
Life eventually happened.
Law school became serious, especially during my 3rd year. I sold all my camera gears and completely stepped away from photography. I focused on becoming a lawyer, and by 2019, that dream finally came true.
Then came 2020.
I built my own gaming PC during the streaming boom and bought a humble Sony A5100 paired with a manual 7Artisans 25mm lens. Funny enough, the moment I started holding a camera again, something came back. The passion was still there all along.
That small setup reignited everything.
I eventually sold it and upgraded to a Sony ZV-E10, paired with Sigma 16mm and 56mm 1.4 primes in 2022. By then, it was obvious — I’m really a prime lens person.
2022 was also the year I got married and became a father. Career, family, responsibilities — life got busier, and the camera once again stayed quiet for a while.
Then in 2025, I sold everything again… but at the same time upgraded to full frame.
That was the turning point.
Photography slowly became more than just a hobby. I started accepting paid shoots as a side hustle, and this time, I wasn’t alone anymore. My wife turned out to have the same passion and talent for capturing moments too.
Today, our setup consists of a Sony A7III for me and a Sony A7CII for her, with a Tamron 28-75 G2 that she absolutely loves.
She’s definitely a zoom lens person.
As for me, I’ve remained loyal to primes. My current lineup is a 35mm, a 55mm, and now an 85mm f/1.4 — my dream portrait lens finally added to the bag.
Looking back, it’s amazing how photography kept finding its way back into my life no matter how many times I walked away from it.
From a student with a Nikon D90, to a lawyer, to a husband and father, and now to building a photography journey together with my wife.
What a journey.
