"The Constabulary"

Filmed in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, this project brings to life a visual study of the Philippine Constabulary during the early years of American rule, an institution that would go on to shape the foundations of policing in the Philippines until 1991.

Often remembered as the precursor to today’s Philippine National Police, the Constabulary holds a deeply complex legacy. Its history reflects both nation-building efforts and darker chapters marked by human rights abuses, corruption, and periods of heavy-handed enforcement. In moments like the Hukbalahap Rebellion and the Martial Law era, it was criticized for actions that blurred the line between state force and political instrument.

This film is a proof of concept, a demonstration that powerful, historically grounded Filipino stories can be told with authenticity, even on a limited budget. Made possible through collaboration with passionate reenactors and creatives, it represents just the beginning of what could become a larger movement in Philippine historical storytelling.

But to go further, we need your support.
With proper funding, we can continue producing more films like this, stories that educate, challenge perspectives, and bring our history to life for a new generation.

If you believe in the importance of Philippine history and cinema, we invite you to be part of this journey.

The Constabulary | Historical Short Film - Concept Trailer

Before the Philippine National Police, there was the Philippine Constabulary. Established in 1901, The Constabulary is a historical short film concept trailer that dives into the birth of the country’s first nationwide police force, an institution forged in conflict, shaped by colonial power, and torn between honor and corruption. Through cinematic visuals and a grounded portrayal of history, the trailer teases a powerful story about authority, resistance, and the difficult choices faced by men enforcing order in an unsettled nation. This is not just a story of uniforms and command. It’s a reflection on how early policing helped shape governance, trust, and the Philippines we know today.
