Why Did Jesus Choose Fishermen Instead of Scholars?

Jesus didn’t start His ministry by calling the educated or the elite. He chose fishermen—ordinary men with humble hearts.
“Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” — Matthew 4:19 (KJV)

Choosing fishermen wasn’t random. It was intentional. They were hardworking, patient, and used to casting nets—now they’d cast the gospel.

They weren’t proud or self-important; they were teachable and ready to follow.

Jesus showed that His kingdom isn’t built on status or credentials—it’s built on obedience, humility, and a heart willing to serve.

When God calls you, He’s not looking at your résumé. He’s looking at your readiness to say, “Yes, Lord.”

Can You Love Your Enemies?

Jesus asked something radical: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” — Matthew 5:44 (KJV)

Loving your enemies doesn’t mean approving of what they’ve done. It means choosing forgiveness over bitterness, kindness over revenge, and prayer over resentment. This kind of love is not natural—it’s supernatural, flowing from the love Christ first showed us when we were far from Him.

When you love your enemies, you break the cycle of hate and reflect the heart of God. It’s not easy, but it’s powerful. Every act of grace toward someone who wronged you is a testimony that Christ is alive in you.
