We've had a lucky month spotting these rare beauties—the Shaggy Frogfish, also known as the Hispid Frogfish! 🐸✨

The name "hispid" means "bristly," referring to the dense covering of spinules on its skin. Just like its other family members, it has a globulous, extensible body with soft skin adorned with tiny dermal spinules. Sometimes, the skin is decorated with cutaneous appendages that look like little hairs.

Did you know the hair on a hairy frogfish are actually spines?

These spines, which resemble strands of hair, allow the marine critter to camouflage itself against sea w**d and coral.

Dauin is known as the frogfish capital of the Philippines and soon its gonna be their season! 😍

Amazing dives yesterday here in Dauin with a pair of Flamboyant cuttlefish putting on a show and beautiful froggies on both dives, to name a few of the cool critters spotted.

A highly effective predator👌

Flamboyant cuttlefish have two translucent tentacles tipped with powerful suckers ready to shoot out and seize their victim before bringing it into their mouth, where a powerful beak will tear it to shreds.
🦀 They usually feed on crabs, shrimp, and other mollusks but will also catch small fish.

About yesterday's amazing night dive at Montani.

Montani is hand's down the favorite site when it comes to diving at night here in Puerto Galera.

Every dive there is different and you would be in for a nice surprise every single time.

Commonly called the dotted or oreo nudibranch, the Jorunna Funebris is a large species of sea slug that can grow over 60mm. It is commonly found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific and it is a favorite of many diving enthusiasts and underwater photographers.

Cephalopods are probably the most unique and amazing marine critters to take photos of.

With their intelligent and creative camouflage skills to mimic and blend into their surroundings and impressive display of colours and changing textures of their skin, they are truly the chameleons of the sea.

Here in Puerto Galera, the dive sites are blessed with a number of different species of cephalopods including the Coconut Octopus, Cuttlefishes, Common Squid and the amazing Flamboyant CuttleFish.
