June 10, 2026, marked a day of great rejoicing for the Catholic Church in Pampanga as the ๐˜—๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜จ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ of Angeles City was solemnly proclaimed as the first minor basilica in the province. At 9 o'clock in the morning, the bells tolled to signify the start of the Mass presided over by the Archbishop of San Fernando, Most Rev. Florentino Lavarias, DD, in the presence of the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Most Rev. Charles Brown, DD, and Their Eminences, the Archbishop of Manila and the Bishop of Caloocan, Jose Cardinal Advincula, DD, and Pablo Virgilio Cardinal David, DD. Many more priests and bishops were in attendance, including the suffragan bishops of the archdiocese. At the beginning of the Mass, the decree elevating the Holy Rosary Parish Church to the dignity of a minor basilica was read, followed by the procession and blessing of the symbols of a basilica: the ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฃ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ and the ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฏ๐˜ข๐˜ฃ๐˜ถ๐˜ญ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ. Shortly after, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Manuel Sta. Maria, was installed as the first rector and was also invested as a papal chaplain (given the title Monsignor).
