Between Two Places by Juliana Tan
Photographic Collage (2026)

Between Two Places reflects my experience after leaving the province to pursue my college degree in Quezon City. Living in the city made me realize how much I long for home, constantly searching for fragments of familiarity and memories of the province within unfamiliar urban spaces dominated by concrete and infrastructure. Through a photographic collage and layered imagery, I combined elements of the province and the city to express the feeling of being caught between two places. Vibrant images of the province contrast with the grayscale urban spaces, reflecting how memories of home continue to exist within unfamiliar environments.

First time shooting with a film camera using the Konica C35 EF.
I used a cheap test roll (VIBE 400 B&W) just to try it out and see if the camera even works or if it has light leaks.

Not gonna lie, I was stressing about the results. I’m so used to my DSLR where I can see everything right away, so shooting film felt like guessing half the time. Especially with zone focusing where I have to estimate the distance myself.

When I got the scans, they were faded, so I adjusted the tones a bit to bring the photos back to life.

But honestly, I’m happy with how they turned out.
Simple, a little rough, but cool in their own way.

It was fun and kinda challenging, but I enjoyed it. Definitely wanna shoot more rolls soon.

I was just testing my new 50mm lens but ended up capturing his little world by the window, where he always sits. It made me realize how much this moment means to me. One day, this photo will remind me of the quiet afternoon I shared with him.

Forgot to post these amazing photos!

This was my first time as a behind-the-scenes photographer. I really enjoyed this experience because I got to work with new people.
