A young athlete from Rosario, Northern Samar is now making waves across the country through his extraordinary speed, discipline, and determination in athletics. Khennan P. Dino, a member of the Rosario Runners Club and a student-athlete of Rosario National High School, will proudly represent the Eastern Visayas Region in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa to be held in Prosperidad, Agusan Del Sur from May 24 to 30, 2026.
Known for his unwavering discipline and relentless training, Khennan has become one of the most promising long-distance runners in Eastern Visayas. Every early morning workout, intense training session, and sacrifice he endured became part of his journey toward becoming a national-caliber athlete. His commitment to excellence continues to inspire aspiring runners and young athletes in Northern Samar and beyond.
For the upcoming school year, Khennan will be a Grade 12 student of Rosario National High School. Despite the challenges of balancing academics and athletics, he remains committed to both his studies and his passion for running. Behind his success is the unwavering support of his loving family. He is the son of Mr. Joenil E. Dino and Mrs. Cecile Pedong-Dino of Barangay Commonwealth, Rosario, Northern Samar. Their constant encouragement, guidance, and sacrifices have motivated Khennan to pursue greater heights in his athletic journey. Through every competition and challenge, his family has remained his strongest source of inspiration and strength.
Khennan’s remarkable improvement as an athlete was also greatly influenced by the support of the Rosario Runners Club. The team provided him with motivation, and an environment that continuously pushed him to improve his endurance, speed, and mental toughness. Through the camaraderie and encouragement of his teammates, Khennan developed the confidence and determination needed to compete at the highest level.
Over the years, Khennan delivered impressive performances in several major running events, particularly dominating the 5-kilometer category in competitions held in Samar- Leyte and the Bicol Regions, where he emerged as champion multiple times. His victories proved that athletes from Northern Samar can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the country’s best runners.
One of his greatest achievements came during a 5,000-meter time trial where he recorded an outstanding time of 15:50:16 minutes, officially making him the fastest runner in Eastern Visayas. Nationally, he currently ranks as the third fastest in the Philippines behind Eric Joachim Hechanova from the Ilocos Region with 15:26:78 minutes and Jhul Ian Canalita from Central Visayas with 15:14:50 minutes.
Indeed, Khennan P. Dino is not only a pride of Rosario and Northern Samar but also a shining symbol of excellence for the entire Eastern Visayas Region. As he steps onto the national stage for the Palarong Pambansa, he carries with him the dreams, hopes, and support of an entire region that believes in his talent, discipline, and determination.
