Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.

The old dead tree stood
gnarled weather torn;
its limbs were now brittle.
What stories could it tell
of the centuries it had lived,
the passing lives it had seen,
and the storms it had weathered
when it was young and strong.
When its foliage was green
and gave shelter from the rain.
Now it stands bare and broken,
a sorry sight to be seen.
It must have been beautiful
when it was young
with its canopy of green,
and a nesting place for little birds
among its evergreen.
Now they only used it
as a resting place whenever they pass by.
The old dead tree,
which had seen so much life.

Walang pintura ang mga pisngi
Hindi rin mapula ang mga labi
Walang linyang itim sa talukap ng kanyang mga mata
Ang ngiti lang nya ang nagbibigay kulay sa kanyang ganda

Buhok na kasing bango ng ligaw na rosas
Boses nyang parang sa anghel ang katumbas
Sinasabi ang gusto nyang sabihin
Nagmumula ang bawat salita sa busilak nyang damdamin

Para syang dapithapon sa gitna ng tag-araw
Tahimik, banayad at puno ng hiwaga
Isang tagpo na hindi mo kayang layuan
Dahil sa piling nya ay isang kaligayahan

Sa mga mata natatagpuan ang pansamantalang saya
Ngunit nagmimistulang habang buhay ang nadarama
Sa bawat ngiti nya'y napupukaw ako sa liwanag nitong dala
Sana lang, kahit sandali lang
Mapagailbihan sana kita prinsesa

OUT of the sunset's red
