Choosing the right angle is one thing… but choosing the right lens? That’s where the real magic happens. You can stand in the perfect spot, wait for the perfect moment but if your lens doesn’t match your vision, the shot won’t hit the same. Wide lens? Storytelling, environment, emotions.
Telephoto? Compression, intimacy, depth.

Not every expensive camera produces great work. Some people upgrade gear thinking it will level up their output but if your fundamentals are weak, your results will still look the same… just sharper. Camera doesn’t create the story. You do. Better gear is an advantage, yes but only in the hands of someone who knows how to use it properly.

There’s a mindset going around that Same Day Edits (SDE) should mostly come from the creative shooter, with only a few clips from the main camera. Honestly, that’s a weak standard. SDEs are not designed to highlight just one shooter. They are built on collaboration. If only a handful of clips from the main camera make it into the final edit, then something needs to be improved especially in framing, storytelling, and shot consistency. The main camera isn’t just a backup. It carries the core moments, the safe shots, and often the most important angles of the day. A strong SDE reflects a strong team not a one-man show.
