The sky didn’t burn—it whispered in amber, soft as a promise the day almost forgot to keep. Orange fading into memory, light folding itself into the quiet—and for a moment, the world held its breath in gold.

"We play with the toys the gods give us." Must've played mine quite well this year as we're heading to the finals in two separate competitions - PAGCOR and HIPA (Hamdan International Photography Award)! My first time to join both, was even hesitant to submit at first as I thought my picks weren't 'strong' enough, but beginner's luck must really be that good of a hand 😅

Wouldn't have submitted my entry for PAGCOR had it not been for Sir Mon's urges. For as much as I love the composition of the original photo, had to turn it from portrait to landscape to fit the specifics. The cropping, I thought, took away its charm; but oh well, you must not question the judgement of a maestro from SLR, I guess. Another lesson learned 😁 thank you, sir!

Raymond, my batchmate from SLR, for reminding me about HIPA a couple of hours before it ends, allowing me to process and submit my entry 30mins before the deadline! And of course, my buddy Ed for riding with me all the way up to Ilocos, keeping me sane and awake throughout the drive, for navigating and 'accidentally' finding that spot in Bangui (owe you that), and of course, for listening to "Rosas" with me in full volume with all our windows wide open in the streets of Vigan while looking for bagnet 🤣

Exciting times ahead, got a funny feeling these won't be the last 😉 pero may pangyumburger na tayo Gray, kasali pa mascot ni Champ at Hetty if we made it all the way!
