OBONG CAVE
Obong Cave is where the late Colonel Jesus Antonio Villamor (November 7, 1914 – October 28, 1971), a Filipino - American pilot who fought the Japanese in World War II landed, aboard the US Navy Submarine USS Gudgeon (SS-211 ) in 1942 bringing fi****ms for the Filipino guerillas and establishing the first radio contact with General Douglas Mac Arthur based in Australia at that time.
The cave serves as hide-out and was named after its location, Obong Point, which is a peninsula on the west coast of Hinoba-an and used to supply guerillas with food and arms.
At present, it is now one of the tourist historical spot situated in Sitio Obong of Brgy Bacuyangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental- a unique place for trekking adventure and camping with approximate distance of 3.5 kms from Brgy Proper.
