Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (Pir Mehr Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan), in collaboration with (UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), has successfully concluded a faculty development programme focused on social entrepreneurship, agricultural innovation, and sustainable peace-building.

The Training of Trainers (ToT) programme aimed to strengthen teaching practices, promote entrepreneurship in agriculture, and equip faculty members with modern tools for addressing socio-economic challenges through education and innovation.

Federal Minister Aurangzeb Khan Khichi said agricultural universities play a vital role in ensuring food security and preparing youth to meet emerging national challenges. He emphasized that faculty development initiatives are key to improving academic quality and institutional performance.

HEC Chairman Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar urged faculty and students to actively engage in international scholarships and research programmes to enhance global exposure and academic excellence.

University officials highlighted that the initiative supports innovation, research, and entrepreneurial thinking as essential drivers of Pakistan’s long-term development.

The event concluded with a commitment to strengthen collaboration between PMAS-AAUR and UNODC, including a newly signed MoU to expand future academic and capacity-building initiatives.
