A large shape flew into a tree and I thought, for a moment, that it is an Oriental pied hornbill. Turned out to be a huge Large-billed crow.
Crows are far from being the most endearing of animals, let alone the most desirable photography subject in the avian world, but corvids (under which crows are classified) are generally considered the smartest bird.
(Large-billed crows are larger than house crows, a very common introduced species. The latter is more adept at surviving in urban landscapes)
