9th Dhul Hijjah, 60 AH — The streets of Kufa witnessed what true loyalty looks like. When Imam Hussain (as) sent Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) as his ambassador to Kufa, thousands pledged allegiance. They said, “We are with Hussain.” They promised support, protection, and loyalty. But when the governor Ibn Ziyad’s terror spread, the same streets emptied. One by one, everyone disappeared. By evening, Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) was left alone. No home to shelter him, no friend to stand with him, no door open for him. Yet his lips kept repeating one name: Hussain. He was captured and brought to the court. Ibn Ziyad asked, “Muslim, are you not afraid of death?” He (as) replied with a smile, “I am the envoy of that Hussain who considers death to be life when it is for the truth.” They threw him from the palace roof. His blessed head was separated from his body. The ground of Kufa turned red, but the flag of his loyalty still flies high today. Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) taught us that the path of truth is often lonely. People will leave. Doors will close. Support will vanish. But the one who stands with Allah and His Imam (as) is never truly alone. His Shahadat is not just history. It is a question for all of us: Would we stand with Hussain (as) when the whole world stands against him? Could we show the loyalty of Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) when standing for truth costs everything? Salaam upon you, O Muslim ibn Aqeel (as) Salaam upon you, O Ambassador of Hussain (as) Salaam upon you, O First Martyr of the journey to Karbala
