Most people romanticise the idea of working in a professional kitchen. The white coats, the precision, the artistry. But the reality is something very different.

In the latest episode of Unfiltered Conversations I sat down with Chef Farid, Founder and Head Chef at Pimento, Lahore's first Caribbean cuisine cafe, for one of the most candid and eye opening conversations about professional cooking I have ever had.

Chef Farid has worked in Michelin starred kitchens and he did not sugarcoat a single thing. We talked about the extreme pressure that defines high end dining environments, the mental and physical demands that even seasoned professionals struggle to manage and why the grind inside elite kitchens often far exceeds what people imagine from the outside.

We also talked about what brought him back to Lahore, why he chose to introduce Caribbean cuisine to a city that had never really experienced it before and what it takes to build something completely new in a market that does not yet know it needs it.

This is a conversation for anyone who has ever considered a career in food, anyone who loves the culture and craft behind great cooking and anyone curious about what really happens behind the kitchen doors of the world's most demanding restaurants.
