Finally, after four years, the Queen returned to the northern skies—and it was worth the wait.
This time it was Atlas Air’s N480MC, a reminder of just how rare the Boeing 747 has become. With retirements accelerating across the industry, visits like this are starting to feel like the end of an era. There’s something different about a 747—its presence, its sound, the way it commands attention long before it even appears on final.
Hundreds of people lined the airport perimeter to catch a glimpse, and it was easy to see why. Moments like this don’t come around often anymore. Getting to experience it up close, surrounded by others who appreciate it just as much, made it all the more memorable.
