🏆✈️ IX Model Show Poznań – Halberstadt Cl.II returned home ✈️🏆
It was an extraordinary journey and the crowning moment of a remarkable year. Halberstadt Cl.II, an aircraft whose Polish story began in Poznań in the winter of 1919, has now returned to its city – this time as a scale model.
For me, this moment was especially meaningful as it closed a year in which Halberstadt attended four competitions and returned from each with awards. In Poznań it won gold in its category, as well as the Złota Pyra for the best multi-wing aircraft, the special award of Lotnicza Historia Polski for the best aviation model from 1921–1925, and finally the most important prize – the Grand Prix for the best model of the festival. I couldn’t imagine a better ending to this chapter.
The festival itself was masterfully organized – from the stunning visit to the 31 Baza Lotnictwa Taktycznego Poznań-Krzesiny, through the perfectly chosen venue, to the beautifully prepared awards ceremony, medals, and trophies. On top of that, I can treasure a unique cup and a magnificent canvas print, signed by pilots – a priceless keepsake.
My heartfelt thanks go to Stowarzyszenie Sportów Modelarskich Hercules III Poznań and the judges for their excellent organization and fair evaluations. I also thank Mariusz Niestrawski - Lotnicza Historia Polski for his passionate lecture and for the special award.
Gratitude as well to the Command 31 Baza Lotnictwa Taktycznego Poznań-Krzesiny for granting permission to host the festival in such an extraordinary location and for allowing us to visit the base. Special thanks also to Paweł Krzeszkiewicz for the remarkable photo (you can see more of his work on the RAViation profile).
And finally – my deepest thanks go to the Pilots of 31 Baza Lotnictwa Taktycznego Poznań-Krzesiny for their signatures, which make this gift not only a unique memento, but also a living bridge between history and the present.
This festival will remain in my memory forever. 🙏
