This statue of King Casimir III The Great is carved completely out of salt. The statue lies deep down inside the Wieliczka Salt Mine which is located to the south of Kraków, Poland. This mine is one of the oldest in the world operating since the 13th century. The mining of salt stopped in 2007 when it was turned into a full time tourist attraction.

This is Peleș Castle. It is located in the stunning mountains of Transylvania, Romania. Construction on the castle began jn 1873 and it was officially completed in 1914. It was designed and built by a German architect named Johannes Schultz for King Carol under whose reign Romania gained its independence. It’s is believed 300-400 men worked on its construction. A must visit when visiting Romania 🇷🇴!

Spain has so much to offer when it comes to sightseeing. Being banned from traveling to its other autonomous regions due to the ongoing severity of the pandemic is a real bummer. So, I took it upon myself to make the most of the situation and check out all corners of the Comunidad de Madrid. It has not disappointed. It’s remarkable the different landscapes and charming little towns this region of Spain has. If the Comunidad has places like this, I can’t wait to see the rest of the country. 🇪🇸 🇪🇸 @ Comunidad de Madrid

Castle Nuevo de Manzanares el Real is a 15th century castle built for the House of Mendoza. It is located in a quaint Spanish town on the foot of the stunning Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range in the Comunidad de Madrid. San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a quaint, classic Spanish mountain town that sits on the slopes of Mount Abantos. This town that is 27 miles outside of Madrid is most know for the El Escorial monastery which has often been called, “The 8th wonder of the world.” Its construction was completed in the late 1500’s. In the basement you can find the Royal Pantheon. This is a marble mausoleum where all the kings of Spain have been buried. You can also find the queens, princes and princesses of Spain here buried here.

One of Madrid’s most famous historical sites is Plaza Mayor. Created in 1617 it was constructed for entertainment purposes. Since its original construction it has been reshaped due to several different fires. When Spain isn’t going through a pandemic, it’s a popular tourist destination. Currently it’s popular with locals as a hangout spot where one can have drinks and food at one of its several establishments. ̃a ̃a🇪🇸
