When we found the group, we were immediately taken to the only building. There were dozens of people in a moldy and windowless room. Women and children. Mothers frozen in stillness and little ones, sometimes even a few months old, playing with sticks and empty food wrappers. A tangle of legs on the muddy and sticky floor. Seven pregnant women. Hidden from the rain and the police.

When we look at photos from the Turkish border we still smell the scent that anyone who has ever been in such a temporary shelter knows. The smell of bodies and fires burning with trash. The smell of resignation and fear.

“After taking each photo, I showed them to the children. A faint smile appeared on the faces of the mothers, saying, 'Thank you for keeping my child entertained for a while.' I don't like it. I don't like disappearing from such places. I don't like this overwhelming helplessness.”

Few days later, the whole group tried to reach the border crossing. Someone (?) informed them that it was the safest solution. Some people were beaten by Turkish officers. Some lost their belongings and personal items. In the live recording we watched (IG LIVE), I recognized familiar faces of children and terrified parents.

Fundacja W Stronę Dialogu does a lot, and if you are not familiar with its work, we sincerely recommend it to you. They write about themselves as follows:

"We promote multiculturalism, anti-discrimination activities and knowledge about the Roma community. We have been counteracting intolerance, stereotypes and stigmatisation for more than 10 years. We respond to exclusion and any form of violence against underprivileged people and groups".

We are very happy that we were able to help her change her visual identity. We tried to keep it simple enough to leave room for different forms of expression within its framework. We wanted it to leave room for the full spectrum of emotions to be communicated to different audiences. We wanted it to be able to talk about difficult and pleasant things. We wanted it to be simple enough not to get boring quickly. So that in 2025 it does not clearly feel like it is from 2022. We also tried to make it distinctive enough so that it would be easy to distinguish the projects from others. We tried to make it not like a spectacular, albeit uncomfortable, creation that you wear to the Met Gala, but rather a garment that you would choose if you could only choose one garment per year.
