1 or 2? (Angelina was a master of “balerina hands”)
If I started my studio photography journey again, just like I did over 11 years ago, I would start with only one light. No complicated setups. No endless equipment. Just one strobe and one softbox. I would spend hours learning how this one light behaves, how shadows change, how distance affects the skin, and how a tiny movement completely transforms the final image.
You do not need five lights at the beginning. You need understanding. And mastering one modifier, especially a softbox, gives you so much flexibility and control over your studio lighting.
This exact lighting setup was created during one of my one-to-one mentoring sessions using a Godox AD600 and a Godox softbox 💡
