“Bitch. You’re my fu***ng soulmate…”
Remember when Maddy broke down at Nate and Cassie's wedding and we all assumed it was about Nate? Episode 7 just rewrote that entire scene.
Watching Maddy go scorched earth to save Cassie this week, the knuckle cracks, the "I f*cking want to," the way she drops everything to pull her out of the Armenian situation Nate dragged her into, hits different. She's not protecting an asset. She's not even protecting a friend. She's protecting the person she loves. And we know that because she literally threw Rue under the bus in the same breath she begged Alamo to save Cassie for her.
And it recontextualizes Nate's "you love who you love" line to Jules in a way that's almost too on the nose. He said it as someone who understood the feeling. As someone whose own sexuality was more fluid than he thought. Maddy was saying it too, she just wasn't saying it out loud.
The wedding tears weren't about losing Nate. They were about watching Cassie walk down the aisle.
