From the very second you step onto the grounds, you are wrapped in an atmosphere so incredibly inviting and filled with a true, comforting "home" feel that you instantly know you are in for something special.

Our waiter, Emilio, was kind enough to share the history and story of this magnificent family-owned business. It started out originally as a local store, transformed into a bar and billiard, and has now evolved into the spectacular restaurant that so many travel to see. I can most certainly see why people journey from all over the island to visit; it is an absolute experience from the moment you park. You are immediately enticed by a spectacular view, an adorable outside seating area with a beautiful patio deck, and happy, prideful faces welcoming you in. Once you walk inside, you are surrounded by so much pure history. The home-style decor and the overall vibe just make you want to sit back and take in the whole experience.We started with drinks, and I was intrigued by the Lavender Moscow Mule, while baby got a Rum Old Fashioned. Oh my goodness, both were the best drinks I’ve had yet! The bartender, MariMari, is so incredibly talented. The mule was crisp and refreshing, and the old fashioned kept a lingering smoky flavor down to the very last sip. There was absolutely nothing watered down about these drinks—they were crafted to absolute perfection. Emilio’s service, warmness, and recommendations on the meals were outstanding. He openly shared the stories of the restaurant, which gives you a much deeper appreciation for the space you are sitting in.For our meals, we ordered the pastelón with rice and a side salad, and baby got the carne frita with tortilla chips. The presentation itself was flawless, but the packed, full flavor in every single bite and the outstanding freshness blew us away. Even the side salad—something normally so simple—was brought to life with Roma tomatoes, fresh greens, pickled onions, feta cheese, and a fresh, homemade vinaigrette that was so vibrant. The first bite of the pastelón was incredibly comforting and flavorful; it was a perfect combination, and the brisket inside was perfectly seasoned and melt-in-your-mouth tender. It came with a garlic sauce on the side, but it honestly wasn't even needed because the pastelón was so good all by itself. The rice also had the perfect amount of seasoning and vegetables, tossed with sautéed onions, peppers, scallions, and just a touch of cilantro. As for the carne frita, it was easily the most flavorful and tender we have had yet on the entire island, and the fresh, unique tortilla chips were highly complimentary to the meal. To top off an already perfect night, Chef Brian came out to greet us, MariMari welcomed great conversation at the bar, and we even got to meet the Mother and owner of the establishment. The amount of pride this family takes in their craft is truly admirable. The stories they shared make you earn a deeper appreciation for a place that already speaks for itself through its food. Thank you to Emilio, MariMari, Chef Brian, and the owner for making this visit such an unforgettable experience, for sharing your stories, and for making your restaurant so inviting and warm to all who visit. I am surely glad we stopped by, and we will definitely be back—you are officially my favorite restaurant in all of Puerto Rico thus far!Right when I was done and thought I could eat absolutely no more, baby ordered a bread pudding with a caramel drizzle and vanilla ice cream that was out of this world. We most certainly left happy, full, refreshed, and so deeply grateful for the experience.
