There are some couples you get to shoot who are so clearly in love with each other that it just completely shines through each photo. When we shoot weddings, there’s a lot of love in the room, but it’s a whole other experience when you’re shooting a couple session of people who are on vacation, celebrating an anniversary, and they’re this smiley, lovey, doe eyed happy. The Sahara dust may have been in town and left the skies grey but the day itself felt anything but. Capturing love like this feels a lot like every time I see a turtle or a whale in the ocean - it’s a blessing to just see it.

One week it’s a beach wedding in Rincón. The next, a conference flies us to Tennessee - and the conference, as these things go, lead us to good food. And so we found ourselves at St. Johns Restaurant .

Moving between all of the different elements of our business keeps us alive in every sense of the word - it prevents us, in a way, from shooting on autopilot.

We shoot many different things, and happily. The photographer who only ever makes one kind of picture soon stops seeing altogether. A dullness of the senses in a way. Thankfully, the food and the company at St John’s, was anything but.

Last month we took part in a special photo session. What could have been a normal couple session at sunset, turned into something more adorable than I was really even prepared for. Sometimes you meet people who go the extra mile and last month, I met Jonathan. A guy who is in love. A guy who goes out of his way to make what could’ve been a very normal night into something memorable. It was clear to me from our communication that there was a lot of thoughtfulness put into it. The bridge to Alba’s culture and history and the surprise and enjoyment on their faces was really special to witness. It’s the kind of thoughtfulness that you really only see in movies and when you get to be a part of it in a small way, capturing the moment, well, it’s truly an honor. It’s like a little restoration of faith in humanity.

This year while shooting for WITS we got to participate in one of the pre-conference FAM tours. We chose to tour the Tennessee Aquarium’s Conservation Institute to learn about their conservation efforts.

Because we’ve been so focused on ocean conservation here in PR lately it was even more special to get a look at what’s going on upstream.

If I’m being honest, before this trip it would never have occurred to me to visit Chattanooga, but now I can’t wait to go back.

It was such a cute city with amazing food and the friendliest people. We had a great time just walking around, exploring new restaurants and seeing the beautiful scenery.

If you make it out there the Tennessee Aquarium is a must!

My only regret is that we didn’t have more time to take advantage of the heated pool and live music at Hotel Indigo Chattanooga

So I guess we’ll have to go back soon!
