Henri initially booked a photo session with me because he had a very special plan: a surprise proposal. 💍
But, as sometimes happens in the Algarve, the weather had other plans. The day before, the sun was shining beautifully. But on the day of the session, it suddenly rained, and we had to reschedule.
In the meantime, Henri ended up proposing on another occasion, and when we finally met at the beach, our session had a different purpose: simply to preserve this beautiful moment in their lives.
Or so I thought… 🥹
As soon as I arrived, I congratulated them on their engagement. Then they told me something else:
They weren’t only engaged.
They were going to be parents too. 💛
She was two months pregnant.
My eyes filled with tears and I felt this incredible shiver of happiness. There was so much love in front of me, and somehow this couple had chosen me to document not one, but two of the most meaningful chapters of their story.
Then they asked if we could make the session a mixture of couple and maternity photography. “Of course.”
And as I photographed them, I kept thinking about how beautiful it is when photography becomes more than just a collection of pretty images.
It becomes a way of remembering.
The way they looked at each other before becoming parents.
The excitement of a new beginning.
The love that was already there, quietly growing into something even bigger.
Every day I become more certain that I’m not here simply to photograph people.
I’m here to tell their love stories. ✨
And being trusted with moments like this is something money could never measure.
