Sometimes just go for what my mother used to call a 'bimble' with your camera and see what's catches your eye. At the top of Aljezur 'old town' I came across this amazing plant in a seemingly impossibly small clay pot. Isn't it incredible what this small pot has produced? Anyway hope you like this nice peaceful shot?

It's no great secret that getting any beach photography done on Algarve beaches in the 'high season' is difficult because of the people. So today had me looking forward to September, when mid morning Praia do Cordoama looked like this 3 years ago. I love this beach, probably my favourite with it's dramatic cliffs and beautiful sand.
Canon R6 - Irix Lens 11mm@f5 iso 100. Irix lenses are perfect for land/seascapes, manual focus and light, also very reasonably priced. I'm a big fan.

I have photographed hundreds of holiday rental properties but yesterday I photographed a special one. 'Porta Vermelha' an idyllic traditional Portuguese cottage set in beautiful countryside, just a stones throw from a beautiful beach (Praia do Amoreira) which has been beautifully renovated inside & out. This post is for the photographers among my followers, when I started out many, many moons ago I shot on film and the highest possible ISO (Film speed) was ISO 800 and it was new, the colours were awful and it had grain the size of golf balls. Every photo looked like it was snowing ⛄🌨

To give context this photo was shot at a street festival recently at ISO 16,000, edited in lightroom and put through 'denoise', the resultant detail and lack of grain is amazing, but it allows you to shoot handheld quite easily in poorly lit locations.

Technology and AI is changing photography forever, my advice to photographers is to embrace the things that help you, but do not use it to create manipulated or false images. Enjoy your photography but keep it real, life & nature provides plenty of opportunity for great images.
