Parabéns aos clasificados! Estamos prontos para o último dia da prova desejando que as condições sejam ótimas!

The second day of the Allianz Ericeira Pro of the Meo Surf League in Ribeira D’Ilhas left some good imagens and a bittersweet flavour for some of the athletes who didn’t make it to the final round. Congratulations to those who made it to the quarter finals. We’re ready for the last day hoping for the best conditions!

Nazaré

After a few years living and working in the Portuguese coastal paradise, today I’ve finally had access by the ocean to the giants waves of Nazaré.

Even though it was not as big as it can get, it’s been a superb ice breaking experience for me. Safety goes first when dealing with this massive mountains of rolling water, so one can never miss the concentration and always has to stay alert. Not only because you can easily have a dangerous accident and get in a pretty nasty situation, but also and more important, for respect to the big wave riders community who is training out there when the conditions allow it making all the magic happen.



Thanks to , who drove me on his his jet ski quite diligently, I got my first chance to witness what means to be a big wave rider. Today I’ve come to the conclusion that I can easily get pretty much addicted to this incredible madness!!

Big thanks also to every rider and pilot out there today, who let us be there and shared their passion and commitment to this amazing sport:

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Nico, the man behind the scenes of a local brand of handcrafted surfboards called , or as I like to call it, the Bentley of surfboards.
His surfboards are like his own anatomy: straight, solid and durable. His workshop is a magic factory where astonishing shapes come to life into authentic master pieces of an odd art called surfboard hand shaping. It was great to get to see a bit of that magic happening live at the workshop! Thanks for the ride!
