Here's the first roundup of my latest months nobody asked for.

I don’t know how to live without a mother. I don’t know who I'll be without my mum.

I lost a witness to my life. Which feels surreal to say.

Grief is not an emotion. It’s a miasma. And it’s forever. Time doesn’t cure everything, some things will never be forgotten or healed.

She fills the silence, she is everywhere.

Her words are hunting me, how to perfectly fold underwear, a dash of perfume to lift the soul, make sure the sink is always dry.

All those rituals that she was so fond of, I'm the keeper of her teachings.
I'm the guardian of crumbs, the ones that my father sprinkles all over himself and the kitchen floor.

I struggled over this post. Battling over the fact that my mother's death is not a public loss and she disliked social media.

But then someone I trust said “our mourning grief needs to be witnessed to be healed”.

And this glimpse of connection with you in the kitchen waiting for the coffee to brew or checking the oven for your "pink moon" to bake, sitting barefoot on the sofa, strolling around with the dog, sipping a cup of Earl Grey tea with a splash of milk in the garden, waiting for the lift or the metro or your loved ones, make my loneliness slightly more bearable. Like a secret society bonded by pain, love, and light.

I’m facing the darkest days of my life, the ones I'll never forget, the ones that either shape you into a stronger self, or crumble you to the ground.

So much clarity in this darkness.
