Saw this 1€ postcard from 1912 at Feira da Ladra in Lisbon over the weekend and I just had to buy it and make something of it. It’s written from one brother to another and more or less reads:

My dear Manoel Machado, I do not write more often because I do not have much time, and the mail closes early, but I did not want to miss the chance to write to you to tell you that I have been doing well and that my health here continues to be good, thanks to God. I have had some work, but nothing that tires me very much. Things are not bad, but they are also not as we had hoped. Even so, we still have hope for better days. Send me news of everyone and tell me how you have been getting along. Best regards to everyone at home. Receive a hug from your brother, who cares for you, José Rodrigues

I used the postcard to make a double exposure with an image I took in Funchal on a banana farm (the image on the postcard is also taken in Funchal, Madeira)
