Amid the blur of rushing commuters, one woman stands still — the only sharp figure in a sea of motion. Alone yet composed, she resists the current, pausing between decision and hesitation. She knows where to go but chooses her own moment to move.

Hoi An is Lantern Town. Some shops have a lot of lanterns for sale. The vast majority just takes photos and then they leave. So shop owners now ask money for taking photos.
I was in stealth mode, so no one noticed me.

Using a mobile phone in traffic in Vietnam seems to be the standard. It's a miracle they did not crash into each other. And both are on the wrong side of the road.

Train Street in Hanoi, 2006, long before it became a hype. The only person you can see is the engine driver. Now the area is infested with cafes and tourists.

Another rice paddies related image. It is smoke season now. After harvest all the leftovers are burnt, no matter how much smoke it will cause. Sometimes you can’t see anything on even the busiest roads, yet no one thinks this is an important issue. You plant rice, you harvest and then you burn. That's how it goes.
This image was taken today in Hoi An.

At the moment it is harvest time in Hoi An. This is a typical scene you can see anywhere near the rice paddies. Although she warned me that it was going to be itchy I was OK in the end. Keep the sun behind you and watch out for wires.
