Friday's interactive, or always say YES!
I love those classic deadlines when something needs to be done urgently, preferably half an hour ago.
Just yesterday, the "leaders" of one of the photo organizations in which I am safely a member announced the conclusion of friendly relations with the Indian Association. And they, in turn, invited us to participate in a photo exhibition in Calcutta. Of course, I can't miss this opportunity.😊
The theme of the contest is national culture and others like it. And as soon as I got off the Bryansk-Moscow train, I sat down to select photos. I settled on these four. As for me, there is this Pushkin in them: "There is a Russian spirit, there is a smell of Russia."

Another about "violin Engra" 🎻
Do you remember the story about the most expensive photo in the world? Only recently I told you about her, and here literally yesterday at the lecture learned the story of this Engra itself. Law of couples cases in action.
The fact is that the violin Engra is a French phraseology, meaning hobby, weakness of any known person, non-professional occupation, second vocation, hobby. His appearance is associated with the long passion of Engra-playing violin. He had been a musical and artistic education since early years, playing this instrument and even for several years he acted as a second violin in the tuluz opera orchestra. Becoming a famous artist, recognized head of school he did not abandon his hobbies. In his spare time played on his favorite tool, proud of his successes, repeatedly demonstrating his skills in this field🎶
It turns out, the author of the photo American man Ray was a great fan of the creativity of this very Jean Augustus Dominic Engra, by the way, the leader of the European academician of the XIX century. And obviously, man Ray painting Angra Turkish baths (polist gallery) inspired. The picture itself, by the way, is exhibited in Louvre.

On Monday, about Friday🫠
Only now the second week of summer has begun, and I'm already starting to think: what interesting things can I entertain you with on Friday😊
And you know, what's so great about our traditional Friday column for me? Of course, first of all, it's an opportunity to remember cool projects that I start to forget about in my fast-paced life. And secondly, this way I choose "unexplored" shots for exhibitions and contests😁
Recently, the associations have tightened the conditions for participation, so you can only submit one work to a competition a certain number of times. This is a way for the organizers to encourage participants to constantly come up with new ideas, but where can they find such a large amount of ideas? That's why I have to resort to some tricks.

The price of art💸
The other day I found out that the most expensive photo in the world was sold in 2022 for $12,400,000... Just... This photo is "The Violin of Engra" by Man Ray from 1924.
Still, the world of art is incredible and incomprehensible. You never know in advance what will "shoot" and become a hunted object for collectors, and what will remain dusty in the backrooms of galleries.
It's not for nothing that they say: art is worth as much as they are willing to pay for it. The creator's labor and time costs cannot be considered in isolation from his name. One (relatively speaking) artist will paint a picture in an hour, the other will be poring over it for months. But this does not mean that the second painting will cost more.
The price of art is a difficult balance between objective costs and subjective perception. It is formed at the intersection of marketing, psychology and economics.
Of course, the works of well-known artists are more valuable and expensive. Remember when I told you about the Italian painter Salvatore Rosa? His paintings are just as good as those of his contemporary, Rembrandt. However, we have all heard of Rembrandt, but who knows about Rosa?
I wonder, in 100/200/500 years, who of our contemporaries will be sold at auctions for a hundred thousand million dollars, and who will be written about? I would like to take a look into the future.

Processing with the help of AI📸
Recently, I was at an interesting exhibition, where it was not immediately possible to guess: "ii" shots in front of me or still cool and unusually processed. Doubts about this are becoming more and more due to the constantly pop-up ads that offer to make a whole photo shoot in any style without your direct participation in the photo shoot... In general, every day more questions and less answers🙈
And here's what I've found out: some authors still arrange "good old" photo sets, and then, using the AI built into Photoshop, add various details and change the background. It's all quite traditional, but with a modern twist. And some skilled artists take a ready-made photo as a basis, write a single large prompt, and create these "one-frame photo sessions."
Ultimately, it's up to each individual to decide what they prefer: the result or the process. The trends are such that in a month/year/two, even the most sophisticated and well-versed viewer will not be able to distinguish real photos from generated ones🤷
Thinking about it, I start to feel like a dinosaur who is fighting for the real emotions that my models and I get from preparing for a project and implementing it. Or maybe the younger generation is looking at these things differently? What do you think?

The law of paired cases🙌
Have you noticed how often some thing that you see or hear about for the first time soon somehow comes into your field of vision again? It turns out that there is such a law of paired cases, which is considered a fundamental principle of probability and statistics. It states that a rarely repeated event, having happened, can happen again.
So, some time ago, I took part in one workshop, and my attention was attracted by a beautiful picture (or rather, a reproduction of a beautiful picture) in the interior. It's all the things I love: the romance of the Pre-Raphaelites, the Renaissance, but I didn't know the artist.👤
Of course, I googled, the author of the masterpiece is Salvator Rosa – an Italian painter, draftsman, engraver and poet of the Baroque era. His work is attributed to the Neapolitan school and the pre-Romantic trend in Western European art.
And just the other day, in training, I heard about this painting and this artist again. Immediately images from that workshop appeared in my head and I thought about the Law of paired cases🙃
So I have a question for you: why is Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo known to everyone, but only the most enlightened have heard about Salvatore Rosa? Well, is it only because of the Ninja Turtles?🤣
