Centuries have passed, yet the call to prayer still echoes through these walls, reminding us that the Prophet ﷺ once walked these very streets.

The Masjid al-Qiblatayn (Arabic: مسجد القبلتين, lit. ‘Mosque of the Two Qiblas’, standard pronunciation: [mas.dʒid al.qib.la.tajn], Hejazi Arabic pronunciation: [mas.dʒɪd al.ɡɪb.la.teːn]), also spelt Masjid al-Qiblatain,[1] is a Sunni Islam mosque in Medina, Saudi Arabia. The mosque is believed by Muslims to be the place where the final Islamic prophet, Muhammad, received the command to change the Qibla (direction of prayer) from Jerusalem to Mecca. The mosque was built by Sawad ibn Ghanam ibn Ka’ab during the year 2 AH (623 CE)[1] and is one of the few mosques in the world to have contained two mihrabs (niches indicating the qibla) in different directions.

The Kaaba is covered with a cloth called the kiswa that is embroidered with Quranic verses, Islamic ornamental patterns, and prayers. The embroidery is done by Saudi artisans using gold and silver thread. The kiswa is also decorated with gold-plated silver threads and 24-karat gold threads.

Bab ar-Rahmah

The door of the Holy Kaaba is called Bab ar-Rahmah, meaning the “Door of Mercy.” It functions as a gateway, granting access to the House of Allah SWT. Throughout the history of Islam, the responsibility and great honor of looking after the door of the Kaaba has been bestowed upon several leaders in the Muslim world.

The Kaaba, located in the heart of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, is the most sacred site in Islam. It is the direction (Qibla) towards which over a billion Muslims worldwide face in prayer. Built by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Prophet Ismail (AS) as a house of worship dedicated to Allah alone, it symbolises unity, devotion, and faith.

Surrounded by pilgrims performing Tawaf (circumambulation), the Kaaba is draped in the Kiswa, a black silk covering adorned with golden Quranic verses. Its significance extends beyond its structure; it represents a spiritual connection and serves as a reminder of the oneness of Allah.

Went to Pakistan 🇵🇰, tried some panning shots and as you can see, they don’t turn out as well! It was all drive by panning but boy we had fun doing so.
Mainly used a Canon R6 and 50mm to shoot, in the back of a taxi for 1 hour!

I haven’t been out in a while and hence not posted in a while. And also cos Instagram is S**T! Anyway, the Aurora at Cow n Calf in Yorkshire at some point Dec 23. I decided last min to go and thanks to .wilkinson.photography for telling me to stay longer otherwise I would have missed this banger! What do you think? Have u seen the aurora in Yorkshire?
