Pett Level BEACH and Fairlight Cliffs caution!!

If you know and love this part of the world, you really have to take care if you go exploring the beach here......especially if it's night time! Just one hour after LOW tide and just a few minutes after this shot, my colleague shouted:
"The tide's coming in!!"

In the time it took me to grab my tripod and bag, the sea was up to my thighs.........shoe level to thigh level in less than 30 seconds. Seriously.

I know it looks light and almost daylight here but this is a long exposure in near total darkness.
Fortunately, we managed to make it back to safety with all equipment intact, albeit it soggy below the waist.

I would say keep well clear from the deep shoreline and especially from the cliff point itself because it's so easy to get quickly cut off!

You never lose......you only ever win or learn 😂

"Stairway to Heaven"

Jury's Gap. The light at the end of the Milky Way is a distant ship, just coming into the Channel. I sold a canvas of this to a lady whose daughter had sadly died, as this place held special memories for her. I just take images without intention and I am frequently and constantly amazed and moved by people with whom my photographs resonate. Places that they knew in childhood, places that hold special meaning to them and their loved ones.

Carl Sagan said that the iron in your blood, the calcium in your bones, and the carbon in your body were made inside stars. Perhaps that's why a star-filled sky holds so much beauty for us.

No.

No, I don't just take photographs of the night sky and the milky way.

Yes, yes, it probably WAS me scaring your cat witless, creeping around the graveyard at 2am photographing the church.

Yes, yes I AM a vampire but since I have a lapis lazuli ring, enchanted by the famous local Marsh witch, (insert name here), I can now go out in the sun fairly safely.

Sometimes, beauty is right under your nose and the tenebrosity of life sometimes means you don't notice it......
