Travelling to the Arctic Circle can be quite expensive. However, Abisko is the best place on Earth for northern light hunting. It’s easily accessible by public transport, offers an affordable and well-managed hostel, and is wonderfully remote perfect for an immersive experience.

To reach Abisko, you need to take a 12-hour train from Stockholm to Narvik. Since it’s a night train, you’ll wake up to breathtaking views, just like in the video where this video starts.

I don’t know why, but watching the northern lights made me emotional and I started thinking about how beautiful our planet is and how, little by little, we might be destroying it.

Achill Island lies off County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland. Marked by rugged mountains and the island is known for its tall sea cliffs and clean beaches. After leaving Thailand, I was always looking for a clear water beach and finally, I found it. Keel beach is a beautiful beach with nice views and the only difference is that compared to Thailand it's super cold even though I visited on a sunny day. There are a few more places I kept for my next visit namely Croaghaun cliffs because that part of the island is a steep climb and I don't want to cycle there 😅. Doogort is another small beach and it's less crowded compared to Keel. There are many accommodation options and I feel the best way is to rent a cabin near Keel beach.
Because of unreliable bus service, I have to cycle back to Newport from Achill sound and it's a 31 km Greenway. This Greenway is an old train track and the views are great.

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc is usually shortened to Chamonix. Chamonix is bordering Switzerland, France, and Italy. Chamonix is a skiing paradise but it is also a place that hikers explore in both summer and. Winter. There are many cable cars to take visitors up to several peaks and the famous one is Aiguille du Midi.
Aiguille du Midi is a 3842m tall mountain within French Alps. This is the closest place you can get to Mont Blanc using a cable car. There is a glass box on top of the Aiguille du Midi to experience the 3842m. So far this is the tallest place that I have ever visited and I got a little bit of altitude sickness. Nothing major but a little bit hard to breathe. I am not sure, it's because of wearing a mask because when I remove it for a couple of minutes felt a little bit better.
Another popular spot in Chamonix is, Mer de Glace. This is a valley glacier located on the Northern slopes of Mont Blanc. Glacier meltdown is so visible in this area because every glacier entrance needs to be excavated. Some boards also show old glacier landmarks.
I think January is the best time to visit Chamonix because it's less crowded and the weather is just awesome. A clear sky makes everything a thousand times better.

Zakopane is a resort town in southern Poland, boarding with Slovakia. This is a famous spot for winter sports and mountain climbing. Tatra national park is one of the main attractions and it needs some solid preparation for hiking. Zakopane is a small city and lucky enough to walk around the Christmas market. I never plan to visit such a thing but the best thing about traveling to a catholic country during Christmas is you can witness their biggest celebration. Taking a small tram ride to see the view of Tatra mountain was a nice addition to my small visit to Zakopane. 🇵🇱

The Wieliczka salt mine, excavated from the 13th century to produce table salt until 2007. Now it's more like a saltworks castle with amazing sculptures. The main highlights are St Kinga's chapel and according to the tour guide, it is available for weddings and other ceremonies. Even though mine reaches a depth of 327m, the current tour will allow only 135m. It is amazing how Poland convert this place into a tourist destination and provide all the essential services. One of the must-visit sites closer to Krakow.

Poland is a central European country that was heavily affected during world war II. Because of this, there are a lot of war memorials and museums to educate the younger generation. It is sad to walk down that memory allay but it is important to educate and prevent such things in the future. Poland is heavily invested in technological advancements, and I feel they want to improve their quality of life. However, when I visit rural areas, they are still not that developed and people are so friendly. During Christmas, Poland getting vibrant with celebrations and snow will add a nice touch to make it even better. Compare to other European countries Poland's living cost is relatively cheap and hotels are very affordable. Considering these factors, Poland is a great country to explore and learn European political history.

Gdansk is a port city in Poland that has a rich history. Since Poland had a special place in WWII, Gdansk also have some special contributions towards liberating Poland. One of the main places to visit is the WWII museum that covers everything in detail. War is an event that allows us to rethink our human values and how to avoid them in the future. According to statistics, Poland has the highest civilian casualties and the WWII museum is dedicated to those who lost their lives in this tragic event.
