Jag var bildredaktör och fotograf för The Times och BBC i London tills jag flyttade till Sverige för fem år sedan på jakt efter ett lugnare liv. I och med tvillingfödseln ett år senare upphörde drömmen om ett lugnare liv, men väckte min kärlek för familjefotografering. Att fotografera barnen under uppväxten har blivit en riktig passion. I mitt gamla liv i London, samarbetade jag med artiste

r som Jay-Z, Kylie Minogue, Kevin Spacey, Eminem och Stephen King. Men nu blir jag mycket mer entusiastisk av att fånga spänningen i en växande, blomstrande familj. Uppmuntrad av vänner och familj, har jag nu beslutat att erbjuda porträttfotografering till familjer i norra Sverige. En Donna Richmond fotosession är mycket mer än bara att ta trevliga familjebilder - du kommer att vara med om en underbar familjeupplevelse med en fotograf som har arbetat med artister som Eminem och Kevin Spacey och vet hur man får dig och din familj avslappnad. Jag kommer att guida dig om hela processen genom att ge dig tips om vad man ska ha och hur man förbereder för fotograferingen - Jag se till att alla är helt bekväma så att ni verkligen kan njuta av fotograferingen. Donna Richmonds fotosessioner är alla på den plats du väljer och tar vanligtvis 1-2 timmar. Vi kan antingen fota i bekvämligheten i ditt eget hem (så länge det finns tillräckligt med naturligt ljus), eller en ömsesidigt överenskommen plats utomhus. Jag ägnar ca 8 timmar totalt per kund och försöker ge en trevlig upplevelse som kommer att ge dig vackra bilder och varaktiga minnen.

Now that SE26 is officially underway, it’s finally time to share this reel.

Photographing more than 50 Skellefteå residents for this project was an absolute joy. Every portrait came with a story, a memory, and a unique perspective on the place we call home.

If you’d like to see the full version, it’s playing once every hour on the large LCD screen above Kulturtrappan inside Sara Kulturhus for the duration of the Expo, until June 9.

This truly was a dream project, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who sat in front of my camera and generously shared their stories about Skellefteå.

”Här räknas varje röst” är ett fotoprojekt om identitet, tillhörighet och minnen i Skellefteå. Byggt på verkliga möten och samtal använder projektet porträttfotografi för att skildra en stad i förändring – genom ögonen på människorna som lever här, inklusive de vars berättelser inte alltid får ta plats.

Som porträttfotograf är mitt mål alltid detsamma: att fånga något äkta hos personen framför min kamera. Det här projektet gav mig möjligheten att göra just det.

’Here, Every Voice Matters’ is a photography project about identity, belonging, and memory in Skellefteå. Built on real conversations and encounters, it uses portraiture to show a city in change, through the eyes of the people who live here, and especially those whose stories don’t often get told.

As a portrait photographer, my goal is always the same: to capture something true about the person in front of my camera. This project gave me the chance to do exactly that.

I asked each participant one question:
“What does Skellefteå mean to you?”

What a fantastic opening evening for SE26 Society Expo 2026 at Sara Kulturhus and Saraplatsen in Skellefteå.

The atmosphere throughout the crowd was incredible, with such a strong feeling of community, excitement and energy.

The evening featured performances from Gloria, Carola, Skellefteå Dans&Ballet, and Pär Wiksten, Cimberly and Trinity, with so many people gathering together to celebrate the official opening of the Expo.

A huge amount of work has clearly gone into organising an event of this scale, and Helena Renström deserves a great deal of credit for bringing it all together.

A brilliant start to what promises to be a memorable SE26. ✨

Last night I had the honour of receiving the Entrepreneur 2026 Award at the EFA Awards at The Wood Hotel in Skellefteå.

As someone who moved to Sweden and built a business here from the ground up, this recognition feels especially meaningful. Trust takes time to build, particularly as a newcomer, which makes moments like this feel both humbling and deeply appreciated.

It was also inspiring to be nominated alongside such successful and well-established businesses as Asia Kajs Restaurang and Nordanå Café / Vitberget Café.

Like many solopreneurs and small business owners, I wear many hats behind the scenes to keep everything moving forward.

To be able to do work I genuinely love, here in Skellefteå and within such a supportive community, is something I’m very grateful for.

A sincere thank you to the EFA board and judges, Cristina Lindberg Ghimpu, Marina Georgescu, Bengt Ivansson and Saleta Beiro, and to everyone who has trusted me to photograph their businesses, brands, weddings, events and families along the way.

Hej! If we haven’t met before, I’m Donna, a professional photographer based in Västerbotten, Sweden, helping people and brands look as brilliant as they are.

Alongside commercial work, I also photograph families in a way that feels natural, relaxed, and a little more elevated than the usual “stand and smile” approach.

A small insider tip from experience: teenagers are often far more willing to say yes to a professional photographer than a family member with a camera (less pressure, less eye-rolling, better results, everyone wins).

Before Sandra’s birthday celebrations began, we did exactly that, gathered everyone for portraits first. Dressed up, present, and ready, before the energy of the party took over.

Not every photo we take needs to look like you’re a high-flying businessperson.

On Tuesday, Företagarna W. hosted a breakfast meeting with a slightly different twist.

We started the morning at Handelsträdgården in Tjärn with breakfast and inspiration – a perfect beginning with sunshine, coffee, and great conversations.

Lina Lindén, who took over the business in 2023, shared her journey from engineer in the mining and smelting industry to a role where she now gets to see things grow and take shape every day. Truly inspiring and bold!

She also raised an important point about origin and sustainability – why buy plants that have travelled far and have an unknown origin, when you can choose locally grown alternatives that are healthier and have a smaller climate footprint?

A morning filled with knowledge, inspiration, and wonderful meetings.

And for anyone curious – Handelsträdgården is opening today! 🌿

(P.S. On my way back to town, I took the “scenic route,” got stuck in a ditch, and came home covered in mud. A very organic end to the morning 😄)

The loudest sound in the room last night?
Women applauding other women.

At the De4K event in Lycksele, I was surrounded by so many inspiring, driven women, and that energy was something special.

I ran out of time, so here’s what I didn’t get to say on stage:

Visibility isn’t equal.

When men speak about their achievements, it’s confidence.
When women do the same, it can be seen as “too much”.

So many women hold back, not because they lack something, but because they’ve learned to.

And yet, being visible matters.

Thank you for your energy, your attention, and for lifting each other up 💛

Is language a problem during photo shoots?

These portraits of Elisabeth Björkman are the perfect example of why the answer is undeniably: no.

When Elisabeth and I created these images, we couldn’t communicate with words. We had to be completely silent.

So instead of directing her by talking, I guided her by showing, by moving, demonstrating, and letting her mirror me.

And honestly? I think she did brilliantly.

We embraced the gorgeous winter sun and kept everything simple, allowing Elisabeth’s natural beauty to take center stage.

No overcomplicating. No overdirecting. Just presence, light, and trust.
