Something happens to me in Florence.
I don’t usually think of myself as a street photographer. But here — the architecture, the light, the markets, the people who clearly care about how they look — I start seeing images everywhere. My photographic seeing comes alive.
Looking back at my frames from 2019 and comparing them to now, I can see how my eye has shifted. What I’m drawn to, how I frame things, what I let in.
Some of these will find their way into my upcoming fine art print series from Italy.
From one person who loves being alive — to another.
📷:
For this visit I shot on the X100VI paired with the X-Pro2 and the 18-55mm f2.8-4. I went back and forth on whether to bring the 35mm f1.4 instead — but the flexibility of being able to move between 18 and 55 won out. And honestly, in that kind of light, I wanted higher apertures anyway. Let the composition, the light and the colour do the work — not compression and shallow depth of field. Took these on Thursday 18th of June.
