Nordic Nature Photographer of the Year!!
I am proud and humble to announce that I am the over-all winner of the Nordic Championship in Nature Photography 2017! I am also very glad to win with an image of this subspecies of the European Grass snake (Natrix natrix ssp. gotlandica), which is endemic to Gotland. I think that snakes are beautiful and interesting animals that deserve more attention. When I took this image, I had spent several days in a shallow little lake on Gotland where I had seen grass snakes many times before. This time however, I was trying to photograph spawning toads when the snake appeared. To me this image is proof that patience pays off, especially in wildlife photography.

I am happy to contribute with some images to the new permanent exhibition about Tyresta National Park in "Naturum nationalparkernas hus" in Tyresta By. The background panorama was taken a misty morning in Tyresta in October last year. The exhibition was designed by Håkan Kvist. (The capercaillie and chantarelle-images were taken by Svante Joelsson and Peder Curman).

Some coastal areas in Gotland look much like grey stone deserts. This plant (Sedum acre) is well adapted for a life among the stones and provides some colour.

Sprig time means spawning time for amphibians. These two common toads (Bufo bufo) were on their way to the spawning water in the rainy weather just before sunrise today.

My photo of a European fire-bellied toad was awarded in Nordic Nature Photo Contest 2015 in the class Nordic Close-up Image of the Year (4-10 place).

I took this photo of an orchid (Dactylorhiza maculata) in Tyresta National Park during a summer night a few years ago. The long summer nights are soon here again.

Finally time to go through my images from Dovrefjell. Time image of two musk ox males was taken on a cold and windy mountain ridge on which I spent many hours waiting for a group of resting musk oxen to move.
